The most interesting experience with the whole situation was by far the two times I was offered bribes. The rules were that I had to put the wristbands on each arm. I was not allowed to just give people wristbands so that they could put them on later. Some people had problems with this, though. On Sunday, a lady came up to me and asked if she could have an extra wristband for a friend of hers that was showing up later. When I said no, she offered me $20 for the wristband. This was quite a shock. These things are free and I'm a volunteer. Taking money for them seems really wrong to me. I ended up turning her down and she went off to some other volunteer to see if she could get one from them. Then on Monday, I was asked the same question again. This time, it was two guys who happened to be vendors. They didn't offer money. Instead, they offered to bring everyone working in the booth free food. This time, I accepted and got a free burger out of the deal. The reasons I took the offer this time were the following. First, the guys were offering food instead of money. This in itself doesn't seem as bad. I was hungry and the food was good. Second, they were vendors and I have a lot more sympathy for them then the regular festival goers.
Would you take the bribe if you were in my situation?

Volunteering for Bumbershoot was great. I got a free t-shirt and a free pass to get into the EMP and they had free water and ice cream for volunteers as well. It was totally worth it in my mind and I'll do it next year.
Tonight at Dante's, it was Chris's last monday night. He is our favorite bartender and he will be missed.
