There once was a man whose trade was that of a stonecutter. He lived the life of a poor tradesman without much worry. One day, he saw a wealthy merchant go by and he thought to himself, "Look at all the amazing things that Merchant has. I want to live that way too."
So he became a merchant. His success caused other men great envy and he owned a large house with many riches in it. One day he saw a emperior come by and watched as everyone bowed and gave the emperior honor. "Look at the power that man has over others. I want to live that way too."
So he became an emperior and he ruled the country. Everyone bowed and honored him. On a particularly hot day, he was riding along and he thought, "Look at the power of the sun up in the sky. It makes even an emperior sweat! I want to have that power."
So he became a sun in the sky. He blessed the earth with light and warmth and everyone praised him. Then a storm cloud came in between the sun and the earth and blocked his sunlight. "Look at that cloud which can block out my sunlight. I want to have that power."
So he became a cloud. He stormed down on the people and they feared him and hide from him. But then the wind came along and blew him away and he thought, "Look at the power of the wind, which can blow even the meanest storm away! I want that power."
So he became the wind and he blew across the land. He pushed the clouds and moved great storms, but then he came along to something he couldn't move. It was a great mountain made of rock and he said, "Look at this power of the mountain! Not even the strongest wind can move it! I want that power."
So he became a rock and sat there and blocked the wind. Then a man came along and started to break him apart and he thought, "What sort of power can break up me?" It was a stonecutter doing his trade.
