I can't believe in you

school was slightly boring. there isn't anything noteworthy about it today. after school, i went to the u-district and got some food. then killed some time at adam & bill's. when i got there, no one was around except jon, so i talked to him while he played a game. after a little bit, adam, bill & tony showed up. hung out and chatted with them all. bill showed me and tony the blair witch game, which looked pretty cool.

i then got late, so i went home. i need to wake up and go to school tomorrow, so i'm not staying up late tonight.

my election react

I have been reading reactions to the election ever since last night when i was having my reactions. but that some time has passed, and i have had some time to think about it, here is my thoughts.

  • if bush turns out the winner, the country is not going to go to hell in a hand basket. true that the president picks the nominees for the supreme court, but before the enter the court, they must also be approved by the senate by a (correct me if i'm wrong) 2/3rds majority. with the senate split right now the middle, no supreme court nominee that is crazy or whatever will get in. it just plain won't happen.
  • if bush starts some war or some other crazy theory that he may do, it won't get to the point of a draft. just look at the gulf war. any sort of conflict, whether it be something i agree with or not, won't get so big that me or my peers start getting drafted.
  • concerning the electoral college, i'm not upset by that at all. I feel that any call to protest is an extreme reaction that is too early. we should at least wait for some things to clear up first with the polls in florida.
  • the issue on the voter turnout and people criticizing the people that didn't vote. i'm not sure what sources you are seeing, but from the things i read and noted from my friends, voter turnout was very high. compared to other elections in previous years, this is the highest voter turnout since they lowered the voting age to 18. most of my friends voted. whenever i talk to someone about the election, they voted. this makes me very happy that people care enough to vote because apathy is really high in my generation (myself included many times).

on the crazy election itself, i am dying to find out if anything questionable really happened in florida. that would make things even more interesting. voter fraud is bad, but it makes for great news.

i think that's it from me. i can't think of anything else right now.

a slow day here in patland

I haven't really done much today. at around 4, I left the house for a little bit. went to costco and looked at the dvd selection and got some food. there wasn't really anything that was a must buy there. i think my need to buy lots of dvds is fading. but that didn't stop me from going to wherehouse music and looking there too. i did find something worthwhile at wherehouse. the straight story is now on dvd. i bought it as soon as i saw it. this is the movie i was waiting for. such a powerful film.

there is an interesting note that is inside of this dvd case. instead of a chapter list, david lynch wrote this:
I know that most DVDs have chapter stops.
It is my opinion that a film is not like a book - it should not be broken up.
It is a continuum and should be seen as such.
    Thank you for your understanding.

    David Lynch

    interesting comment.

so buying that movie brings my dvd collection to 99 titles. so close to the triple digits. i wonder what number 100 will be?

some plans for tonight could be hanging out with someone if they want to, going to a movie (there is a little nicky preview tonight), watching a dvd, or whatever else comes up that could be entertaining. not sure.

one other thing to note, got the recruiting email from aventail. i'm crossing my fingers that i get an offer. that would be so cool. :)

    (no subject)

had dinner and watched the simpsons. good stuff. haven't really watched the simpsons (not including the new episode last weekend) in a long time.

being that i just ate, i'm feeling tired, but i should be ok soon. need to get out of here i think. the family is going out to a concert that tim is performing at. I'm not going to this one. not in the mood.

is anyone not doing anything yet? it seems like everyone is out and about doing stuff. *sigh*

    (no subject)

was going to watch 'straight story', but fell asleep instead. i woke up went everyone got back from tim's concert.
i get back up to my room and check my email to see two interesting things there.
the new moves for diplomacy came in. i didn't get sweden, but sara didn't take st. petersburg so i'm happy. i get a much needed build and hopefully that may turn the tides of the war. also, bill lost belguim as quickly as he gained it. italy and turkey appear to be ready to clash now that austria is gone.

the other big email i got was the offer for a phone interview at aventail. yay! it's on tuesday.

    still nothing to do.
