Questions About Modern Computing

Do you run a distributed computing client on your computer?

On my old machine, I ran distributed.net's client. I like the idea behind the effort, cracking encryption through brute force, I also always enjoyed the ideal behind Seti@Home. It's kinda romantic, searching for extra-terrestrial intelligence. So with my new machine, I started looking around.

I come across climateprediction.net, which uses the same software as seti@home called BOINC. It's cool how all these different projects all work under the same software. Brilliant idea.

Oh also, I'm just curious. I'm using Windows Vista for the first time and I'm actually kinda impressed.

I haven't used vista, but I'm a fan of the new fonts it came with! I use one of them at work.
At home, I'm running folding@home, which helps with protein folding research for stanford.edu. The screensaver is pretty, and looks like important science stuff, so I can ummm... impress the ladies?

I'm a dual user, Mac OS X and Windows XP. I currently have 3 computers, but only 2 that I'm using. I hauled off a 4th computer to the recyclery last summer (it was an old piece running Windows 95 or 98 or something).

I've been a duel user in the past. Linux and Windows. That's a great way to go.
