I'm listening to the mix for the first time right now - about two minutes into the Amandine song, in fact, and I really like this one so far.

I like the fact that, although we have somewhat similar tastes in music (last.fm compatibility = "very high"), there's not much overlap between our two mixes. Beirut and Underworld are the only same artists (I have both the Bjork and the Polyphonic Spree, but I wasn't that crazy about the first and completely forgot that the second came out this year).

"Beautiful Burnout" is an AWESOME song - I wanted to put that on my mix, but an 8 minute song meant dropping something else, and I wimped out. :)

Amandine is the best musical discovery I made this year, and it blows my mind that no one has heard of them. The song writing is so beautiful (it kinda reminds me of sufjan stevens).

I also like the fact that our mixes didn't have much cross over. You have several albums that I've heard the names for many times, but just have never checked out. I had about half of this mix put together a couple months ago, when I was dreaming of how I would do my mix exchange disc. Then, when I was thinking about the best of the year mix, I noticed that most of my tracks were from this year.

Beautiful Burnout is one of the later additions to the cd, but I love the song and I'm happy with how it fits. I actually had another 7 minute song on there, but I just removed that to make the underworld track fit.
