cell phones are stupid

I crashed on my bike last night and apparently kinda broke my phone. It's cracked on the top part of the screen now and I can't see the time or how many bars I am getting. I didn't sign up for the phone insurance when I bought it and physical damage isn't covered by warranty so I guess I'm living with a broken phone for a while.

I bought the insurance because the girl in the store told me with it, I'd get my phone replaced for free. Not so. I still have to pay $50 to get my phone replaced or repaired on top of the monthly charge for the insurance. Shop around and I'll bet you can find a new phone for less than the $170 it will cost me for insurance and a new phone.

I have t-mobile and their insurance coverage was $8 a month. that is way over priced for phone insurance and I would not pay. I am 7 months into having the phone and I think I would have come out ahead in this gamble actually.

But regardless, I'm looking at maybe getting the cheapest phone they have available, even though it lacks the camera. Maybe I should keep the camera phone just for the camera and start taking art pictures with it!

At least you'd get some good out of the camera! Alltel is $5 per month times the 24 months of my contract plus $50 for a new phone if mine breaks! I'm hoping it won't!

It's ok sid. thanks for your note. I think cell phones tend to get broken because they are designed to break!

ok, here is my theory. They design these phones to break under standard use (with the occasional drop or other sort of physical damage) but then they AREN'T WARRANTIED for these types of damage. Then, force the user to pay $200 ever 6 months because the phones are flimsy pieces of shit.

I was going up a hill and was downshifting. Something went wrong while the bike was shifting and the chain got locked up and the bike basically stopped moving. I managed to aim my fall into the dirt on the side of the road.
