  • The new issue of the Seattle Weekly came out today. Every employee that walked up to the front desk (where I am working) who picked up an issue and read the cover text out loud has misread it. They then correct themselves.

  • The weather is still cold, but the drive out to seattle wasn't that bad. No new snow means not a lot of change in the quality of the roads from last night.

  • Paper shredders are a lot of fun to use. Especially when they are noisy.

  • It feels like the Weekly's column Ask an Uptight Seattleite wants to be funny and clever like WM.™ Steven Humphrey's I Love Television column. It's not quite at the same level, but it's amusing nonetheless1.

  • I'm getting off work at 12:30 today. I have class tonight at 6, but I'm wide open the rest of the day. What to do, what to do...
Update: Looks like BCC cancelled classes for tonight. I just got an email from them saying so, even though the website isn't updated yet.

  • I really love that new single from the Shins. I haven't really listened to the whole new album yet, but if it's as good as the song Phantom Limb, or as good as their other two albums, then it will be great.

    1. According to dictionary.com, the definition of nonetheless is nevertheless and the definition of nevertheless is nonetheless. The terms themselves seem very odd, what with there being no spaces where there should be spaces. English is such a oddball language.

    This is actually pretty good:

"Not sure I'm able to completely go along with your evaluation of how we Seattleites view the Eastside. I myself don't judge. Does the typical Eastsider have a somewhat more consumerist approach to his or her lifestyles than, for example, I do? Do Eastsiders poison the air with their enormous herds of SUVs charging from one mall to the next? Do they bow their big blond hair and orange, tanning-salon faces to a bigoted God in sterile, climate- controlled churches the size of the Boeing factory? Do they vote for fascists? Maybe, I don't know. Like I said, I don't judge."

I really liked that letter, in particular. If you back and read the archives, I don't think the column gets any better than that.
