I need breakfast

This morning started with a phone interview. It seems to have gone pretty well. So far, this week is looking hopeful.

No, actually Speakeasy.

I did get the info and a offered position for working at yellowstone, but as it turns out, I had to decline their offer. The timing for the job was all wrong. I would have been able to do it if I had applied for the spring and early summer, but there is a friend's wedding that I am unable to miss in september and Yellowstone would have clashed with it. Too bad, too. Yellowstone looks like a lot of fun. Maybe next year, if I actually plan it better.

If you'd have mentioned it during the interview, I can guarantee they would have let you have the time off for the wedding. You'd be surprised what you get if you ask sometimes. A girl I knew had the same situation, and they totally worked with her on it.
But it sounds like maybe you were looking for something different. Good luck!

Hey, I talked to our recruiter today, and she said you have an interview tomorrow. I'm assuming that means that the phone interview you mention was for Speakeasy, and that the in-person interview is happening tomorrow? If so, awesome!

Here's a few things I'd recommend brushing up on. If you have any questions, I'm on AIM at ToddAtSpkz - I don't use it at home, but I'll be in the office for another hour or so tonight, and then tomorrow morning.

- What are the types of DSL Speakeasy offers?
- What are the benefits of having a static IP address? A dynamic IP?
- What are some reasons why DSL service would stop working?
- What is the difference between NAT and routed blocks?
- What is the difference between port forwarding and host mapping? Why would use one instead of the other?
- How does DNS work?
- What is an A record? A MX record? A CNAME?

I'd also recommend reading through http://www.dslreports.com/faq/faq, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VoIP, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_protocol_suite, and maybe even http://www.dslreports.com/forum/speakeasy, http://www.speakeasy.net/about/ and http://www.speakeasy.net/network/ to get a sense of the company itself.

I think if you do all these things, you'll be more prepared than the standard rep who comes in. From there, it's all about service skills and sounding like you'll be professional on the phones.

Good luck!

perfect!
Yes, the phone interview was with Speakeasy and I'm coming in tomorrow at 9am for the interview. Thanks so much for your help, I'm confident that I can close this deal and get a job.

Thanks, Todd. This is a big help. I've got homework to do for tonight!
