Poker

I just won $25 from a online poker tournament! It's way easier to tone your playing online then it is in face to face games. I've been playing at PokerRoom.com recently with reasonably decent results, though I haven't won enough to think about cashing out yet. I'm barely dancing above a positive income on this. I'm sure I'll drop back below the black on my next game.

Still, I would rather be playing games with people at someone's house. Sitting around a table, with a beer and a stack of chips in front of me. That's the way to play.

Are you part of a regular game? Or is this a sign that something needs to be set up?

Then we would need to decide on a when and where. Can you come up to Seattle for a game? Would it be better to try and arrange something down in Tacoma? We need to rally some other people for the cause.

Seattle is fine. I work near Pike Place, and get off at 6, if we wanted to do it on a weekday evening. I'm also not against bussing up on a weekend. I can always crash at work if it goes too late.

I think my friend Jarod could host a night. I'll talk to him and maybe we can arrange something where I can pick you up from downtown.

A friend at work reportedly makes as much playing online poker as he does as a software engineer. He's kind of a stats nut, though. And gambling is really dangerous.

Well, I'm only gambling small amounts, if anything at all. The website I am using offers "play money" for no cost.

I know that people can get into games and win big payouts. And stats are a big draw towards gambling, too.

I like online to some extent because of the number of fish, but it really doesn't compare to B&M games.

Still, I'm a much bigger fan of tournament no-limit than limit ring games, and those are harder to find in person.

Yea, tounrey no limit games are fun. It's more about surviving and waiting.

Yeah, that's the way to play.

I played some roulette on line and won $40 to recover the $40 I had just lost in person at the casino.

I was trying to play online craps, which is very fun and addictive, but I wasn't winning. I need to play with play money to see if I can figure out a good strategy.

Yes, also you can read about many strategies for most casino games on line. I used a risky but simple strategy to win my $40 back on line. It was less risky than at the casino, because on line you can play the european style single zero roulette, whereas in American casinos, you're stuck with single and double zero. It may not seem like much, but it basically doubles the house edge.

I do prefer that as well. I used to have a game with some friends, but the gatherings died out. We would always play limit or pot limit.
