The number matrix is considered good luck and a symbol of cosmic order in Hindu-Buddhist culture.

Except for my comment above, this post has nothing to do with lost. This post has to do with the balance of the universe!
*checks the square to make sure it all adds up to 15 still*
Yup, the balance still exists. phew!

Plus the title of your post, superstar, which is 108! Deny it all you want, but it's EVERYWHERE.

Plus, uh, Lost is all about the balance of the universe, right? Or maybe it's just on my brain cause we're watching Season 1 and I just saw the "Numbers" episode last night so I'm hyper-alert to all things Lost.

it's a magic number!
Yea, that's true that the lost numbers add up to 108. I've been watching Season 1 as well and it sounds like we are both right at the same place in the series!

108 is more than just the numbers from lost when you add them together, though. It's the number of degrees each angle has in a 5 sided figure and is also related to the golden ratio and the fibonacci sequence! It's considered a blessed number in some eastern religions. It's also the number of stitches on a baseball.

Re: it's a magic number!
When I was in band in high school, our director was really into this composer named Stephen Melillo who freakin writes music based on the fibonacci series and we played his stuff a lot. He even got Melillo to come be our guest conductor one year for band retreat. Consequently I've about had my fill of that golden rectangle bull-roar. NAUTILUS!

Oh maybe the table tag isn't playing nice with your browser... What web browser do you use?

I'll try and fix it right now.
