The Harry Potter movie franchise is amazing. We have four movies out of seven so far and not a single one has disappointed. Is it because they are trying to stay true to the books? Possibly. The books are all very good, but good books do not always make good movies. The series reminds me of Lord of the Rings in the level of quality that is being produced.

So the latest in the series, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, lives up to the hype of the series. I don't think it was the best of the series, i think that honor still lies with the Prisoner of Azkaban, but it's close. GoF is a big story and there is lots of action and special effects to fill the screen. There has been several reviews complaining about things getting cut from the book, but honestly I would have cut the same type of things if I were making the movie. Do we really need more of Dobby? He is Harry Potter's Jar Jar Binks, if you ask me.

All in all, they turned out a great action movie for this one.

Ah interesting, see I think that Prizoner of Azkaban is the best Harry Potter movie so far. The mystery of the story translated well to the screen and the director took the series in a new direction that i felt worked really well. If I were to rate the four movies from best to work it would go:
Prisoner of Azkaban
Goblet of Fire
Sorcerer's Stone
Chamber of Secrets

I think my problem with Prisoner of Azkaban is there were elements left out that I felt were key to the story, such as the relationship between Snape and Sirius Black, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew. That was such an important part of the book, and it wasn't even made mention of.

Also, they completely ignored the origin of the Marauder's Map. That was another one of my favorite sequences from the book.

Those parts are interesting, and I will give that I would have liked them to have touched on Lupin's familiarity with the map because it wraps into the Maruader's and that history. There is millions of details that I would have liked to have seen, but that's what reading the book is for. The most important parts of the story in Azkanban is Harry's relationship with Sirius Black and Reemus Lupin, the time turner, and Harry's Patronus.

Snape's relationship with them doesn't really expand until Order of the Phoenix and it can wait until then.
