As you may know, I have been watching some classic horror films that I have
never seen before. Last night, I finally finished the very long Friday the
13th series. A couple thoughts about it.

Overall, the series was very enjoyable to watch. It does get a little
repetitive, but killing is always amusing to watch and for the most part,
the series keeps a freshness about it's characters even if they all end up
dying violent deaths. The series is at it's best when it first starts with
the first four movies and then it does fall off a bit, with it's lowest
point being 'Jason takes Manhattan'. Personally, I enjoyed the films after
that point where New Line Cinema picked up the series. 'Jason Goes to Hell'
is amusing, as is 'Jason X' which takes the horror and turns it into a fun
sci-fi movie.

Now that I've finished both the Nightmare on Elm Street series and the
Friday the 13th series, the next movie is Freddy vs. Jason. Soon after
that, I will be beginning the Hellraiser series, which everyone keeps on
telling me if their favorite horror series.

I'm looking forward to it. I've built it up so much, watching both series and getting the characters all defined in my head, it will be quite exciting to watch everything come to ahead.

I wonder if there will be any more movies made with either of these characters (or both of them). The internet always talks about some more crossover movies, like a freddy vs jason vs ash vs pinhead vs mike myers or whatever.

Yeah, I've heard the talk about Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash quite a bit. If it's the same director, I'm so there.

Halloween is the series that I'm watching after Hellraiser. I vaguely remember seeing one of the first halloween movies, but I can't remember too much about it.

Halloween is the one that started it all. I would also say it is still the best. Carpenter virtually creates a filmmakers guide to cinematic theory and practice with this movie. The sequels are okay, as are the knock-offs (Freddy, Hellraiser, Jason), but if you're looking for the best "film", Halloween is the one.
