Iraq is such a mess

TV reporter killed by US fire during live Baghdad broadcast.

Jesus christ, what the fuck are we doing over there? The Iraqi civilian deaths are growing in leaps and bounds. Is there any wonder there is so much violence against us troops?

"This idea of a functioning democracy here is crazy. We thought that there would be a reprieve after sovereignty, but all hell is breaking loose." - Newsweek

We are losing the war, just like how we lost vietnam. Maybe it's time we stopped forcing democracy on countries. These experiments in "spreading freedom" are not working. I am becoming more and more embarrassed to be an American. I think we all should be embarrassed.

Despite what interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi says, I doubt the elections will happen in January. Violence will just be getting worse and worse and no one is going to go vote. I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm just reading the wrong media, but it doesn't seem to matter where I read it, it's still not very hopeful.

And finally, Colin Powell says what we've all been thinking for a long time. There are no WMDs. Are you angry at the Bush adminstration yet, or have you not been paying attention?

I don't know that we'd have so many problems if we were HONESTLY prostletizing democracy and freedom. People just don't react well to imperialist exploitation and cultural control, for some reason.

proselytizing is a good word
agreed. it has a very imperialist feel, the way we want to push democracy on everyone in the world. leaves a bad taste to my mouth.

Also, I'm sure the Bush administration took for granted how easy it was to control a country with minimal effort after his reign over the United States.

I'm glad people are dying. The world is overpopulated as it is. Damn Bush made fucking hell after 9-11 when all them bitches got knocked up because they somehow valued life more or whatever.

abortions for everyone!
That last sentence has got me stumped for a while.
I didn't realize it was the United States Military's job to help with world overpopulation. And if that is the case, why are they killing Iraqis? Shouldn't they be killing Americans and Chinese or something?

I don't care as long as people are dying! ;) Remember, we're the "superior racecountry", DUH! *waves American flag and drives off in an American-made car with rebel flag bumper stickers*

the way i see it is that bush has control for a few more months and then the reign of terror might be over, unless Kerry wants to continue the tradition of 'helping where we can be helped' and dives in after Bush into this damn war for oil. honestly, why dont we go into africa and try to 'help' if we are just trying to be good people and force our ways on other nations? because they have nothing to offer...politics piss me off

i love how politics piss me off. I'm such a junkie for that shit.
Regardless of how hopeless things might be, I still find hope because there are people out there that are working for change and for good. I like that.

Politics shows the worse in mankind, but it also shows the best, too.

I know. Its a horrible passion, and I love that.

Im really glad that the number of people working for a change is growing so fast. I cant stand watching people die for a cause that they dont truly support. I can always hope that things get worse before they get better and that this is the worst.

I can totally understand being a junkie. My bible class has become me and a few hardcore republicans debating the state of the nation...and a few liberal extremists who keep saying that Bush is the anti-christ, which I think is a little to extreme...its really quite entertaining. Its almost what I live for, and thats a little sad.
