My roommate Jared just called me here at work. Apparently a pipe or the laundry machine or something broke above my bedroom and now there is water leaking into my room. I'm at work and I feel a little bit helpless about this. Not that I really could do a whole lot if I was at home, though. Jared is moving some of my stuff that could get damaged by the water out of the way, but apparently it's mostly just landing on the carpet.

It's not free water. The house gets only one water bill and we have to split it up between the two units.

Water in seattle is kinda expensive.

but it broke *above* your bedroom, right? so it's *their* share, not yours!

free water!

we don't really have a meter to show which water is ours and which water is theirs. it's the house's water. we will pay for it, at least a little bit.

no, i guess it was confirmed that it was the washing machine.

The water heaters are actually all on the bottom floor in one of my roommate's closets. They are about 5 years old and are working pretty good. We actually have 2 80 gallon tanks.
